What LEVEE shows
LEVEE aggregates publicly available NSW council flood studies and presents them in one place in plain terms. The information is provided for general understanding and education only.
What LEVEE is not
LEVEE is not a statutory flood planning certificate and is not a substitute for advice from your local council. For statutory flood planning certificates, planning decisions, or detailed flood level advice for a specific property, contact your local council.
Accuracy and limits
Flood studies vary in age, method and resolution between catchments. Data may be incomplete, superseded, or absent for an area. LEVEE presents the information as published by the source and does not warrant its accuracy, completeness or currency. Use it as a starting point, not a final answer.
Every study stops somewhere, usually at a model boundary, a council line or a catchment divide. The map draws that limit as the edge of the mapped area. Flooding does not stop at it. Outside the line LEVEE holds no study, so the map is silent about that ground rather than telling you it is safe.
Data and attribution
Flood data is owned by the respective councils and study authors and is used under the terms each source publishes. Base mapping is provided by Protomaps and OpenStreetMap. Aerial imagery is provided by the State of New South Wales (DCS Spatial Services). Source attribution accompanies each layer on the map.
Where a source is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), attribution is provided accordingly. Full per-source licensing, including the modifications made to each source, is listed on the Data sources page.
